BHP delivering deals
BHP Corporate Finance is delighted to announce that it has acted as lead advisor to the shareholders of Walkers Transport on the £20m sale to its management team backed by Total Capital Partners.
Walkers is a leading UK transport and 3rd party logistics specialist. Providing bespoke transport solutions for leading manufacturers, retailers, wholesalers and distributors, moving ambient, non-hazardous, palletised goods across the UK, Ireland and Europe.
The Group, which operates from strategically located distribution centres in Leeds and Manchester, has experienced strong growth over recent years with turnover increasing from £18m in 2014 to £28m in 2017.
The BHP team led by Hamish Morrison and Matt Scott ran the competitive process, introduced the transaction to selected purchasers, led negotiations and project managed the transaction to completion.
Hamish Morrison commented “Walkers’ ‘Can Do’ philosophy and its ability to achieve market leading delivery performance for all its customer consignments, no matter what the size or delivery location have been the cornerstone of its ability to grow rapidly. The group is well placed to continue to build on its market leading reputation and position.
Walkers founder Nigel Jenkinson commented:
“I would like to take the opportunity to thank the BHP Corporate Finance team for their support, guidance and commitment with regard to the transaction.
When we first started the process, we did not realise the enormousness of the work involved, but from the first day, the BHP team dealt with all the key issues efficiently and with the utmost professionalism, a great team.
Their approach and friendly professional manner in guiding us through this process was invaluable.”
